Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using VeroFi ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Service. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service.

Description of Service

VeroFi is a local-first personal finance application that allows you to upload CSV bank statements, categorize transactions using AI, and track your budget. The Service is designed with privacy in mind, keeping your sensitive financial data stored on your device.

Account Types and User Roles

  • Free Users: Can upload a single CSV file as a trial. Free users can view their categorized dashboard but cannot upload additional files until they subscribe.
  • Pro Users: Paid subscription providing access to unlimited uploads (subject to rate limits) and premium features.
  • Beta Testers: Users with early access to experimental features. May have different rate limits and feature access.

Local-First Data Storage

Important Disclaimer: VeroFi uses a local-first architecture. Your financial transaction data (amounts, dates, merchant details, budgets, and tags) is stored exclusively on your device using your browser's local storage (IndexedDB).

You are solely responsible for:

  • Backing up your data using the export feature
  • Understanding that clearing your browser cache or using a new device will result in data loss
  • Maintaining copies of your original CSV files

VeroFi is not liable for any data loss that occurs due to browser cache clearing, device changes, browser updates, or any other circumstances.

AI-Powered Categorization

VeroFi uses artificial intelligence (Google Gemini) to categorize your transactions based on merchant names.

AI Accuracy Disclaimer: AI categorization is provided on a best-effort basis and may contain errors. The AI may incorrectly categorize merchants, and you should verify categorizations before making financial decisions. VeroFi is not responsible for any inaccuracies in AI-generated categorizations.

By using the categorization feature, you agree that merchant names (excluding amounts and personal identifiers) may be sent to our AI service and may be used to improve the global merchant categorization database.

User Responsibilities

When using VeroFi, you are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality and security of your account credentials
  • Ensuring the accuracy of data you upload
  • Regularly backing up your local data
  • Complying with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Using the Service only for lawful personal finance management purposes
  • Not attempting to access, tamper with, or use non-public areas of the Service

Subscription and Payments

VeroFi offers subscription plans for Pro features. Payments are processed through Stripe.

  • Subscription fees are charged according to your selected plan
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings
  • Refunds are handled in accordance with Stripe's policies
  • We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with reasonable notice

Rate Limits

To ensure fair usage and service quality, the AI categorization feature is subject to rate limits. If you exceed these limits, you may need to wait before making additional requests. Rate limits vary by account type.

Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are and will remain the exclusive property of VeroFi and its licensors. The Service is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.

Limitation of Liability

VeroFi is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

In no event shall VeroFi, its directors, employees, partners, agents, suppliers, or affiliates be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Any loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses
  • Any financial decisions made based on information provided by the Service
  • Any loss of local data stored on your device
  • Any errors or inaccuracies in AI-generated categorizations

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease immediately. Your local data will remain on your device unless you choose to delete it.
